Eames and Eames began creating their signature plywood chair series shortly after meeting in 1940; the wood and metal DCM design emerged later. The Dining Chair Metal was released in 1946 and at the time considered very edgy and modern, because of its pairing of a moulded plywood seat and backrest with bright, chrome legs.
